The Guild wishes to encourage woodworkers in this province to improve their woodworking abilities and share that gain through workshops, education, and/or a career in woodworking. With this in mind, the Guild is pleased to announce that we have created an annual Woodworkers' Development Grant program. The program is intended to enable successful applicants to improve their knowledge and skills set and then share that with our guild members and other interested groups through workshops, education, and/or a career in one of the many woodworking disciplines.
After the completion of the learning experience the applicant(s) will be required to make a 30 to 60 minute presentation at one of our monthly SWG meetings. The presentation must include:
- where the applicant(s) went,
- what he/she expected to learn,
- what he/she did learn,
- and a demonstration.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have an existing background in woodworking. The SWG grant committee must receive the application by December 31st of the current year. The application can be submitted by e-mail to the Grant and Award Committee. or sent by surface mail to:
Attn: Development Grant Committee
Up to $1,500 will be awarded each year. The SWG selection committee reserves the right to grant all or part of the value for any successful request. The SWG selection committee may request an interview with the applicant(s) before a decision is made.
